On Thursday, November 16th, we will be hosting our tenth GBM this Thursday 11/16 in STZ 103 at 6 PM. Our presentation will be centered around Portfolio Management and subtopics that pertain to portfolio management including: asset management, risk and return, mean variance efficient frontier, CAPM, and active vs passive investing.
On Wednesday 11/15, WV and FLIPA (Florida Intellectual Property Alliance) will be holding a joint meeting from 7-8PM in Matherly 112. Bryan Wilson J.D., a Patent Attorney based out of Ft. Lauderdale, will be covering IP protection for startups. This is an incredible opportunity to ask general questions about IP rights and the implications thereof for startups looking for venture capital. Last Week’s Overview
Last week on 11/9, WV held a panel of various industry professionals from VC/PE firms. Guest speakers in attendance were Ryan Whittemore, Partner, Chief Investment Officer at Florida Funders, Pablo Casilimas, Managing Partner at OneSixOne Ventures, Mark Halberstein, Founder & CEO at Simplenight and Walt Adams, CEO at EVI Holdings. The speakers answered questions prepared by board members Alexander Azar and Abhishek Kundalia relating to career planning in the VC and private capital space and how they’ve differentiated themselves individually as firm leaders. Ryan Whittemore personally encouraged all member of WV and those in attendance at the panel to apply for internship positions at Florida Funders for Summer 2024. Partnerships and Projects
Warrington Ventures is working with CEID on the CEID Venture Symposium scheduled for February 22nd of next year. The Symposium is still in the palnning phase, but the event will feature pitches from several startups from incubators/accelerators across Alachua county, a presentation on local funding resources, networking sessions, and a panel discussion from accredited investors and Alachua based founders. Competitions
Team assembly for the Florida’s entry in the Venture Capital Investment Competition on February 10th is to be finalized before the end of this week. As hosts of this year’s East division of the competition, scheduled for February 24th we have begun contacting and confirming judge appointments for the event.
